A renowned financial services company is looking for a General Manager.Responsibilities:
* Lead the Japan Branch as General Manager and Resident Director
* Manage and develop a team of 10-15 staff to support business goals
* Identify and deliver strategic and tactical initiatives while mitigating risks
* Oversee operational management and business continuity of the Japan Branch
* Build governance frameworks, policies, and procedures in line with local and global standards
* Manage compliance, finance, sales, and customer service functions within a matrix structure
* Report to the Group Executive team and Board, presenting key updates
* Liaise with financial regulators, tax authorities, distributors, and external partners
* Ensure accurate regulatory and tax submissions and oversee inter-company service agreements
Requirements:
* Practical financial services experience in Insurance, Investments, Securities, Banking, or Type II
* Prior work experience of Japanese insurance and investment products and service
* Leadership experience of developing people and delivering strategic and tactical initiatives
* People management experience of building successful and effective teams
* Operational management experience of running a financial services office/branch, including business disruption and continuity planning
* Policy administration experience of running an insurance/investment book of business
* Experience communicating with financial regulators, tax authorities, distributors, external consultants, and other third-party suppliers
* Prior experience developing and managing distribution relationships for financial products
* Experience of compliance and prevention of money laundering
* Proficient in written and verbal Japanese and English
