A leading global financial services company is looking for an experienced lawyer for a Japan Markets Legal role.Responsibilities:
* Provide regulatory advice to the company's legal entities operating in Japan
* Negotiate client contracts
* Advise the business on the implications of changes in client agreements and complete internal reporting and approval processes
* Work with international colleagues to understand and implement the local implications of changes in offshore regulations
* Supervise regulatory inspections and reports
* Instruct and supervise outside counsel in various jurisdictions
* Identify legal and regulatory risks raised by the company's business and develop solutions
Requirements:
* Admission to practice law and possession of a valid practicing certificate in a relevant jurisdiction
* 7+ years' post-qualified experience
* Experience in securities lending, securities finance, taking security over dematerialized securities, and Japanese regulatory issues facing financial institutions
* Advanced verbal and written proficiency in both English and Japanese, including the ability to draft agreements and negotiate with clients in both languages
