In this role you will ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, prepare and analyze financial reports, assist in tax compliance, and prepare & process payroll.

An international legal firm is looking to hire an experienced Accountant to support the finance team in their Tokyo office.Responsibilities:
* Perform monthly closing activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling system reports and ensuring accurate reporting of accounting transactions
* Prepare balance sheet reconciliations including cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intercompany accounts
* Perform accurate and timely payroll operations and ensure all payroll transactions are in compliance
* Collect, analyze, and summarize financial information to assist in the preparation of reports and records
* Work closely with external tax consultant and prepare the statutory financial accounts and schedules for various tax filings
* Support internal and external audits
* Help prepare the annual budget and forecast
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting
* Level 2 or higher Nissho Boki (bookkeeping) certification
* 5+ years' accounting experience, including payroll experience
* Knowledge of various tax compliance issues in Japan; tax accounting certification is a plus
* Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (i.e. pivot tables and VLOOKUP)
* Intermediate level English proficiency (TOEIC 600+)
