A global vehicle manufacturer based in Saitama is looking to hire a Legal & Compliance Counsel.Responsibilities:
* Advise operational and corporate functions of the company in all legal areas
* Provide legal services and manage a wide variety of legal issues relating to the operations of the company
* Counsel company management and leaders on legal risks associated with various alternative means for achieving business objectives
* Manage disputes in coordination with functions and external counsels and interface with government/regulatory bodies as required
* Monitor legal or regulatory changes in relevant jurisdictions and optimize legal security/compliance
* Coordinate with other legal counsels within the group and manage external legal service providers as required
* Implement group compliance policies and initiatives to raise employee awareness
* Provide compliance training to employees of all levels
* Lead or support compliance investigations as required
Requirements:
* Bengoshi or foreign-qualified attorney
* 3+ years' law firm or in-house experience in Japan
* Solid technical legal knowledge and skills and strong business sense
* Ability and willingness to travel as required (mostly within Japan)
* Native level Japanese; business level English
