Responsibilities: - Manage and develop the Japan HR team across HRBP, Talent, C&B, and Employee Relations. - Support growth, transformation, and operational complexity in a fast‑changing environment. - Develop processes and leadership capabilities to enable long‑term growth in Japan. - Lead sensitive employee relations cases, investigations, labor matters, and change initiatives with sound judgment (main contact point for ER cases is retail manager / directors. HR handles escalated cases only rather than first contact) - Provide leadership with strategic HR guidance while ensuring strong execution across HR operations. - Align Japan HR practices with regional and global people strategies. - Advise on recruiting, training, talent development, performance management, and organizational effectiveness. - Contribute to defining and executing the HR strategy as part of the leadership team. - Create systems and programs that help employees perform at their best and thrive in the culture.

- 10+ years experience, including strong management experience, ideally in multinational companies. - Strong foundation as HRBP is preferred over only operations experience. - Proven experience leading an HR team in a high‑growth environment with employees across multiple locations. - Hands-on expertise in core HR areas: benefits, workers’ compensation, payroll, and employee relations. - Industry experience in retail, hospitality, or food/beverage is strongly preferred. - Broad HR knowledge across ER, recruitment, C&B, performance management, training, and org design. - Experience with organizational transformation, restructuring, or rapid scaling is highly preferred. - Deep experience handling complex ER cases, investigations, and labor law issues in Japan (required). - Comfort working in multicultural, matrixed organizations is strongly preferred. - Experience partnering directly with senior executives and leadership teams. - Strong knowledge of Japan employment and labor laws. - Business‑level fluency in both Japanese and English. - Experience working with regional or international teams is strongly preferred. - Proven success building HR policies and strategies from the ground up.
