An international chemicals and materials company is looking for an R&D Manager.Responsibilities:
* Manage and lead the R&D department in Japan, ensuring projects are resourced and prioritised to meet business objectives
* Define and execute short to long-term R&T strategy aligned with strategic business units, including resource, capability, and capex planning
* Drive technical excellence in Japan as a key centre of expertise across beauty and pharma portfolios
* Oversee R&T activities across beauty and pharma laboratories while supporting consumer care and pharma lipid development
* Collaborate across Japan, Asia, and global teams to share innovation, technologies, and best practices
* Lead cross-functional communication with internal and external stakeholders to accelerate innovation delivery
* Contribute as a member of the Japan Leadership Team and support strategic initiatives, including new laboratory development
Requirements:
* Master's degree or above in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
* Experience in beauty or personal care R&T with exposure to skin and hair applications
* Proven experience in R&T leadership, managing laboratories and technical teams
* Experience in setting up or expanding R&T laboratories
* Hands-on laboratory experience
* Skilled in strategic planning, execution, and R&T resource development
* Proficient in English and Japanese
Preferred requirements:
* Experience in pharmaceutical or consumer health R&T
