A leading global biopharmaceutical company is looking for a Legal Counsel.Responsibilities:
* Provide pragmatic legal advice on commercial agreements, collaborations, distribution, data protection, competition, and promotion
* Identify legal risks tied to strategic initiatives and design practical mitigation strategies
* Lead drafting and negotiation of complex or high-value transactions and manage external counsel and legal spend
* Collaborate cross-functionally with compliance, IP, data privacy, tax, and finance teams to deliver aligned legal support
* Manage disputes, claims, and regulatory inquiries and develop effective response strategies
* Monitor legal and regulatory developments and drive policies, templates, and legal operations improvements
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree or above
* Experience in-house and/or at a law firm
* Prior experience with a broad range of commercial transactions and the practical application of relevant laws in assigned areas
* Possess valid attorney qualification
* Business level Japanese and English (TOEIC 800+)
Preferred requirements:
* Experience in other highly regulated sectors
* Prior in-house experience in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or rare disease
* Proven experience managing external counsel and handling disputes, investigations, or regulatory engagements
* Background in leading change initiatives (e.g., operating model enhancements, CLM deployment, knowledge management)
* Prior background in handling matters across multiple jurisdictions and negotiating multi-jurisdictional
contracts
