A renowned renewable energy company is searching for an In-house Legal Counsel.Responsibilities:
* Use knowledge of energy market regulation and legal frameworks to shape investment and commercialisation strategies
* Support the development of greenfield and brownfield opportunities from a legal perspective
* Negotiate commercial agreements and related documentation to support investment opportunities at different stages of the project lifecycle
* Identify risks and opportunities across all streams of work and advise on appropriate courses of action where necessary
* Lead project teams as required, including conducting due diligence, preparing bids, negotiations, and developing relevant documentation
* Assist with the development of internal investment approval documents to support approval frameworks
* Provide general legal advice to the company in respect of major greenfield and brownfield opportunities, tender processes, business operations, activities, litigation, and disputes, and manage external law firms
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in law or equivalent law degree
* 8-10 years of demonstrated in-house experience in respect of energy infrastructure projects (including EPC and financing agreements, Wind Offshore projects are a plus), tender processes, commercial transactions, regulatory matters, drafting, negotiating, dispute management
* Experience negotiating, reviewing, and drafting
* Familiarity with issues affecting energy infrastructure
* Good drafting and negotiation skills developed from a transactional or greenfield development background
* Energy industry experience and knowledge of energy regulatory, legal and economic frameworks is advantageous
* Must be qualified as a lawyer, judicial scrivener, or administrative scrivener in Japan
* Fluent level Japanese N2+; proficient in English (French is desirable)
