■Job Summary
The Director of operation in APAC is responsible for the warehouse and distribution as well as
service in the region. He/she acts as the logistical business partner for the commercial and clinical
organizations and will be based in our Tokyo office. He/she also manages purchasing activities in
strong collaboration with the global procurement organization. The role is crucial to supporting
our future success and expansion in the region and involves a broad range of responsibilities.
■Responsibilities
• Management and setup of the current and future 3PL partners in the region
(Japan: in operation Other areas in APAC: in planning & preparation)
• Management of all transportation in the region in line with the global transportation strategy
• Management of the regional purchasing activities
• Budget ownership and supplier management
• Lead continuous improvement and other projects
• Support the implementation of the required IT infrastructure
• Represent the supply chain in the partnership with the regional business teams
• Ensure strong global operational alignment and collaboration with the other regions
• Further strengthen the organization, processes and systems to sustain the future growth
• Ensure that the necessary and relevant KPI’s are in place to ensure an efficient operation
• Set and manage performance targets for direct reports
• Ensure activities comply with the applicable our Quality System requirements
• People and team development
• Other tasks as assigned

■Qualifications (to be discussed):
• Bachelor’s Degree, in supply chain/logistics, business, engineering or equivalent
• Equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree
• 7-10 years working in Operations or equivalent
• 7-10 Managerial experience
• Asia pacific experience is a plus (Launching an operation center for SCM in APAC is highly welcomed)
• Experience in Medical Device or Pharma is a plus
• Experience in a strong growth environment is a plus
■Knowledge/Skills:
• Service Oriented
• Highly organized and flexible
• Ability to discuss on all management levels
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Japanese and good English is a requirement and any other language a plus
• Working knowledge of operations policies, processes and procedures as a user and author
• Good understanding of the KPI’s and best practices within an operations organization
• Ability to multitask and meet challenging deadlines
• Must be self-directed and able to complete projects with limited supervision
• Very good understanding of ERP systems (SAP would be a plus)
