The main responsibilities are as follows:
Provide legal advice and counsel to leadership in areas of business strategy, operations and general risk management
Work together with business partners regarding contract development and any regulatory concerns
Provide sponsorship and guidance to overseas colleagues, with strong focus on global team integration
Monitor developments and updates in legislation and all relevant regulatory areas and provide counsel as needed
Take the lead for internal education on 'hot' regulatory issues such as anti-trust, bribery, and general practice on contracts and other relevant business areas
Manage external counsel to provide cost-effective service

Qualified as an attorney, in Japan or another commonwealth jurisdiction, with at least 10 years' experience
Must have previous in-house corporate legal experience, preferably with major corporation
Experience with leadership and ongoing development of a team of legal associates is desired
Characteristics of the successful candidate:
Passion for collaboration on cross-functional and cross-regional teams
Credible business partner with a partnering/consultative mindset and approach
Brings external expertise and thought leadership to the legal team
Is energized by the combination of leading, developing and integrating a team, while also playing a hands-on role to meet a variety of legal needs for both the team in Japan, and globally
